alarmed

i’ve been having the best dreams lately.

a couple of nights ago, i dreamt that i was living in england (i’m pretty sure), somewhere out in the country.  it was dreary and rainy, kinda cold.  i was wearing a thick sweater, a long floral dress, and over-sized rain boots.  i walked down a long dirt road, a fence on each side.  i stop at the mailbox, open it, and find several envelopes addressed to me.  i begin opening them and they’re all from literary agents.  the letters are explaining that they’ve all come across my blog and that they love the way i write.

all of them want to sign me.

hello?!

dream.come.true.  (well, not really.  you know what i mean.)

*sigh*

i kinda wanted to cry when my alarm went off.

i’ve contemplated writing a book…maybe one of these days i will.  we’ll see.

i’m wearing…
vintage, nautical blazer – thrifted
lace dress – nordstrom
vintage belt – thrifted
vintage boots – mo vintage. on etsy
**i wore this on saturday.  had dinner with a friend.

i also dream [pretty regularly] about perusing estate sales, antique stores, garage sales, flea markets, etc…(duh.)

of course, i find the most amazing vintage items at unreal prices. incredible dresses, shoes, handbags, scarfs…you name it, it’s right there…at my fingertips.  i don’t even have to elbow other girls out of my way.

it’s literally laid out for my taking.  i always end up hopping, skipping, or twirling to my car with a shit ton of amazing finds!

and then the flippin alarm goes off.

my alarm is so rude.

ah well.  at least i’m not dreaming about being naked in front of a room full of strangers…or…walking out of a bathroom in a busy restaurant with toilet paper stuck to my boot.

oh wait.  that wasn’t a dream.

heh.

anywho.

happy monday friends!

may all your dreams come true.

darling, i can’t thank you enough for being such a great friend over the last several months.  we’ve only known each other a short time, but you’ve been there for me through some pretty tough shit…life changing decisions and whatnot.  i appreciate the long chats, the advice, and the laughs.  i know we’ll be friends for a long time.

fun things ahead, mama!

frame worthy.

update…this look is featured on weardrobe!  woot woot.

  oh hello.

yes, that is a frame…a prop, if you will.

i found several of them at a garage sale a couple of months ago.  they’ve been propped up (haha!  no pun intended.) against a wall since then.  i tripped over one on my way outside [to take these photos] and decided it was meant to be.

so…just go with it.

i’m wearing…
vintage eyelet sleeve blouse – thrifted
belt – thrifted
vintage shorts – thrifted
tights – anthropologie
shoes – target

before it reached a thousand degrees that day, i was wearing my favorite teeny tiny wool blazer.  it looked good, but it wasn’t worth numb arms and dying of heat exhaustion.

i think this outfit will be more appropriate for fall.  i can’t wait to wear it with boots!  and a sweater!  …while drinking my soy chai and strolling through the pumpkin patch.  (who am i kidding?  october in california is usually blazing hot.  last year, while searching for the perfect pumpkin, i was wearing a tank top and couldn’t wait to find shade because i was literally melting.  no wonder our jack-o-lanterns don’t last long.  they start rotting on my door step within a week!)

fall…please come to california soon.

 ready for the coworker comments?

coworker 1:  aren’t you hot in those tights?
me:  i’m wearing shorts and tights.  you’re wearing pants.  i’m probably more ventilated than you.  are YOU hot?

coworker 2:  whoa.  i didn’t realize you were doing something weird today.
me:  oh yeah.  you’re surprised?  i’m switchin’ it up.  keeping you on your toes!

coworker 3:  i walk by, her eyes get wide, she says nothing.
me:  you know i have a blog and that i often write about what i wear.  we do things differently in the blogging world.  this works there.  they get it.  (trying frantically to explain myself only elicits bigger eyes and a slow nod of the head.)

 coworkers…gotta love em.

a little something for my friends.

hello there!  happy tuesday.

so, yesterday afternoon, i got a lot done…grocery shopping, helped taylor with homework, made dinner, did a few things around the house…

i had other “to dos” planned, as well…wrapping etsy orders, catching up on blog posts, pre-planning a post for today…didn’t happen.

right before i started making dinner, i felt a teeny tiny headache coming on.  i thought it would go away after drinking a bottle of water and eating, but nooooooo.

i ended up with THE worst, nausea causing, dizzying headache of my life.
it was so bad, i crawled (literally) into bed early, closed my eyes, and tried not to move.

honestly though, i did pry my eyes open long enough to witness the horror of piles and piles of cat carcasses and plastic bags full of human feces on an episode of hoarders.

nice.

i’m feeling better this am.

palm springs – part two

this folks, is how i spent most of day two.

i woke up early and had snagged two lounge chairs by 830!  not only did i hear that the pool area fills up fast and gets super crowded, but apparently you’re not allowed to get up early, reserve chairs and head back to bed.  no siree…staff members were picking up towels, books, magazines and the occasional flip-flop, left and right!!  it was crazy.  people were pissed.  but hey…you snooze, you lose.

it was so nice.  i lounged, read my book, drank coffee…WrW finally came out around 11…we ordered lunch, (more than) a few drinks and simply relaxed in the 100+ heat!

i even made a few friends!  :)

around 3, we left the pool side to head into town for some thrifting!

boy did we score big.  (more on that in part three.)

from there, we headed back to our room to freshen up and head to dinner.

stripes and florals!  WrW dug it.  i did, too.  it’s quirky and cute!

you may recognize the red envelope purse in the pics.  yep!  it’s for sale in the shop!  buy it…it’s only $18!  in fact, if you mention that you saw it in this post, i’ll take $5 OFF!  hurry though…it could be snatched up by someone else!

for dinner, we headed over to palm desert to castelli’s, an adorable little hole in the wall italian restaurant.  think east coast/sopranos meets member’s only wearing retirees in california.

the lighting was dim, a piano was playing in the background, the wine was flowing and the food was great!

needless to say, i had a few glasses of wine which led to lots of silliness once we got back to our room.  WrW got a few shots of me goofing around before i petered out and started yawning.

stick a fork in me, i’m done.

minutes later, i was snoozing the night away.

(i’m wearing the modcloth shirt you may have seen here and an adorable dress that i purchased from a local boutique.)

part three (the final part) is coming tomorrow!  stay tuned…

couple other things before i go -

1.  please check out the shop!  i’m adding new items this week and even relisted a few pieces that have been in the shop for a long time.  also, i’m thinking about having a big SPRING CLEANING sale!  (i’ll let you know…)

2.  BIG NEWS:  today, i’m getting a double dose of exposure in the blog world from two very lovely ladies!!  thank you kristin (of leproust vintage) and rachel (of mousevox vintage)!!!  i am truly honored that kristin is wearing one of my finds and that rachel mentioned me on her blog, as well.  :)

side note:  i’ve been advertising on kristin’s blog since the beginning of may.  it’s certainly helped with sales, so if you found me via leproust…cool!  and thanks for stopping by and/or making a purchase.  the best part though, has been getting to know kristin.  we’ve emailed back and forth several times and i’m learning a lot about this very stylish, business savvy, super intelligent woman!  thanks for all your help and support kristin!  i hope you’ll come visit california soon!

alright my dears, i must be going.

happy wednesday!
