florida – day one

remember when i went to florida in april and i promised photos of the trip, but i never shared?

welp, today’s the day!

i’m sharing.

enjoy!

day one.

i don’t recommend this, but we took the red-eye from la to miami – it was horrible.  i didn’t sleep much, neither did mark. and by the time we landed in miami, rented a car, and headed towards the keys…the sun was coming up.  i saw about 2 minutes of an incredibly gorgeous sunrise, then passed out for the duration of the ride.

after a two-hour drive, we finally arrived at out destination – hawks cay resort, located on duck key – and napped for a couple of hours in the bride and groom’s villa.  most family members and a handful of guests weren’t expected to arrive until later that afternoon, so we headed to the resort pool for some rest and relaxation in the sun…and tropical drinks, indeed.  needless to say, my pina colada was a virgin.

once mark’s family arrived, we moved into our villa, unpacked, then headed to a casual “welcome” dinner.  Everyone indulged in delicious seafood and fruity cocktails – accompanied by live music – on an open air patio.

it was a lovely evening.  the perfect start to our much-needed vacation.

more to come…stay tuned!
