never forget

 (source)

do you remember what you were doing on 9/11/01?

i do.

at the time, i was living in ventura, ca.
taylor was 10 months old, i was 21.
i woke up early that am – to hit the tanning salon for a little “fake n bake” before work.
{seems so ridiculous in light of what was going on at that exact moment, hundreds of miles away…but little did i know.}
i heard the horrifying details of the attacks on my way home…time stood still as i sat in my car, listening…
i felt anxiety, fear, anger, sadness, loss.  i remember feeling so scared.

to this day, it’s still very hard to see the images, to hear the gut-wrenching interviews, and to not feel anger towards the people who inflicted such pain and suffering on our country…

today, i’d like to take a moment to remember the loved ones who were lost and to honor the heroes who risk their lives to save and protect.

my heart goes out to you.

  1. I was on my way home from an a.m. college class. When I walked into my (parent’s) house I saw my mom sitting on the couch watching the event take place. Tears were rolling down her face. I sat down and watched too…we saw the towers fall. We just sat and hugged each other for the longest time.
