just a few short years ago, i remember rolling my eyes at friends and coworkers who simply couldn’t wait to get home from their incredibly “streeeeeeeessful daaaaaay, open a bottle of wine, and relaaaaaaax.”  i found it dramatic and irritating.  my thought was…go to the gym!  go for a run or a hike!  you’ll feel better about yourself and your ass won’t get fat from all that wine!

fast forward to now… i have a 6 month old, an 11 year old, and a husband.  a full time job.  bills.  dirty dishes in the sink.  dirt on the tile floor.  mounds of laundry.  and the thought of doing it all over again the next day…

forget endorphin releasing hikes.  who has time for that shit?  hand me a bottle of two buck chuck {as soon as the baby goes down} and watch as my teeth turn from a brilliant white to a nice shade of purple.

because now i get it.

ps.  if you have a second, please vote for us!  and…would you mind voting for my dear friend sarah?  her blog is reverie.  she’s an amazing writer and mother.  i like her.  and i think you might, too.

  1. I’m with you on this one. All. The. Way. There is very little in this world that purple teeth can solve … at least for a little while. Dirty dishes and floors don’t stand a chance.

  2. LOL my tech and i always discuss how weary we are at the end of the day and especially at the end of the week. God did not make us women to work full time plus raise the family and it is is an exhausting task!

I will say i am one to go the route of go to the gym vs the red red wine but that is because the ex was an alcoholic and i dont want my children around it anymore than they have to be.

    have a great week!

  3. Just voted for both of you!

I feel exhausted every night, and I don’t even have a good excuse for it – no kids, just animals that keep me busy! I can’t even imagine having more to juggle. You enjoy that drink or two! :)

  4. ohhh i love a glass of wine at the end of the day! but after a little workout maybe? maybe a brisk walk? i don’t know, i like it all! i’ll have a 6 month old this time next year and i’m happily dreaming of the days when i can end a day with a glass or two of red once again! woo!
